Jump saddles also referred to as a "forward seat" or "close contact", are designed for show jumping and hunt seat equitation. As a result, they are used for both the showjumping and cross-country phases of eventing.

Jumping saddles typically have a very forward cut, close contact design, and a flatter seat that enables greater freedom of movement for the rider when in the jumping position.
